Clos Du Val
1998 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Dark ruby red with a somewhat paling rim. Very tight at first, with air the nose displayed cassis and cherry fruits, with interesting notes of walnuts and herbs de provence, and some leathery notes. Medium bodied, on there palate there are cherry, rasberry and cassis fruits with anise, nuts and some earth. Healthy tannins clamp down on the red-fruit finish. Perfectly enjoyable, nicely complex, more elegant and austere than rich, but nothing profound. |

Layer Cake
2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Beautiful deep garnet color. Aromas of blackberry, cassis, violets, cedar, tobacco, and hints of minerals and graphite. Sweet, densely packed and creamy in the mouth, but with firm, underlying structure that gives lift to the dark berry, chocolate, and coffee flavors. This is a very lush, soft, complex wine that coats the palate and spreads out on the long, lingering finish. |
